Assistant Accountant

A pioneer in the water pump industry is looking for an ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT. The organization is looking for a partly qualified assistant accountant with 5 years of experience in his/her belt as an assistant accountant/Accountant and preferably from a manufacturing or trading background with a solid distribution line. We are looking for a candidate between 30–35, should be willing to work in Colombo 8 (Borella). Attractive package awaits the preferred candidate.

·         Location – Borella

·         Working Days - Monday – Saturday (half a day)

·         Salary – 50,000+

Duties

·         Review VAT reconciliations, based on computer records against client records.

·         Prepare VAT returns.

·         Clearly explain to junior accountants answering to you their roles, accountabilities, and support provided by practice.

·         Maintain a positive team dynamic.

·         Identify any negative team dynamic issues before they impact on performance.

·         Put appropriate strategies in place to restore a positive team dynamic.

·         Provide ongoing feedback to team members on their performance and work standard.

·         Undertake formal performance appraisal process annually, including identifying development requirements.

·         Review work done by junior accountant.

·         Review general journal and general ledger, including sales ledger and purchase ledger.

·         Review reconciliation of bank accounts, sales and purchase ledgers.

·         Calculate and post end of month entries for depreciation, provisions, accruals and prepayments.

·         Finalize of end of year trial balance, including all adjustments, end of year entries for depreciation, provisions, accruals and prepayments.

·         Prepare working papers for tax returns for individuals and businesses.

·         Prepare draft financial statements.

·         Prepare income tax returns.

Ideal Candidate

·         Partly qualified accountant (CIMA/AAT/ACMA/CAB)

·         A degree in Accounting

·         5 years experience as an assistant accountant in a reputed Manufacturing or a trading firm

·         Age between 30 -35

·         Proven track record

·         Ability to work with Manuel and automated systems

·         Fluent in English and Sinhala (Oral and written)

·         Should be willing to work in Borella
