Handicap International (HI) has been working in Sri Lanka since mid 2004 and it has extablished itself in Sri Lanka as one of the key organizations in disability sector through a broad range or complementary projects.
DISCRIPTION
The Technical Unit Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the quality of projects implemnted by HI Sri Lanka Program and providing technical support as and when required by the projects teams.
SCOPE OF JOB
The Technical Unit Coordinator (TUC) works to support Handicap International (HI) Sri Lanaka Programme in ensuring quality outcomes towards achieving the Country Program Framework 2012 - 2016 and the specific objectives stated under each project.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To manage the Technical Team: provide guidance, framework and support, facilitate the links and exchanges, share information, design actionplans, and carry out appraisals.
- To provide Programme team with appropriate and timely technical support.
- To lead & support on conception and design of new project proposals.
- To be part of technical overviews of reviewing project progress in terms of qualitative aspects.
- To support capacity building of quality skills in disability & development approaches within the HI-SL staff team.
- to coordiante the monitoring, evaluation and learning management system of the program aimed at enhancing quality control and organizational learning.
- To supervise communication activities (internal and external purpose).
- To mange functional links with HI HQ Technical Resources Direction, ensuring the most appropriate use of HI technical resources when not available at the rpogram level.
- To coordinate linkages, representations and support development of partnership with national/ international organizations, UN agencies and Gvernement organizations.
- To ensure identification of opportunities and support HI Program for awareness, lobbying and advocacy related activities on disability issues in Sri Lanka.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Disability Studies, Inclusive Development, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, Social Work or any other field relevant to the position.
DESIRED
An advanced Degree in a related field.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years overseas experience for an international organisation in disability field applying a holistic approach.
- At least 2 years management experience of development and implementation of humanitarian programmes including representation at a senior level.
- experience in developing and managing a technical coordination unit or technical coaching.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge on policy, institutional strengthening and organisational capacity development.
- Excellent English lcommunication (Spoken and written) skills.
- proven track record in community based rehanilitation and disability management in development context
- Advanced computer skills in Word and Excel.
- Strong self manager with proven ability on multi-tasking, setting priorities and reaching targets.
Salary and other benefits are as perthe remuneration policy but depends on the experience.
