Quality Assurance Technical Specialist

Responsibilities

1. Adhere to company and project standards and guidelines.

2. Act as the technical expert in the project team and assist the Lead in making decisions with regards to test strategy and appropriate tools/ techniques to be used in a project.

3. Research on new tools and techniques as necessary for project work and apply them in the project.

4. Conduct Performance/Automation analysis and strategy for the project and work closely with the Technical leadership

4. Review Requirements, clarify uncertainties and make sure clarifications and changes are communicated to necessary parties.

5. Responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing Test scenarios, Test cases, test strategies for Pearson Lanka applications throughout the lifecycle of the project.

6. Effectively communicate with product team and stakeholders on product issues and resolve them.

7. Enhance QA team technical capabilities (automation/performance/Security) through practice groups

8. Mentor QA team members on technical matters, and groom the technical expertise within project teams

9. Work with Dev Team, DBA and all other project stake holders to achieve project deliveries

10. Support the overall Pearson Lanka testing requirements including down time testing.

11. Support the Pearson Lanka QA interview and Recruitment process on technical matters as necessary.

12. Help Project QA Lead to analyze project metrics, identify trends and take corrective action, reformulate strategies as necessary.

13. Contributes to the Pearson Lanka QA trainings and initiatives.

14. Actively involved in at least one specialist group.

15. Proficient in at least one Performance test tool or Automation test tool

16. Attends Design Review/ Architecture meetings for a project, and make contributions in a QA point of view

17. Practice and tailor Agile/Scrum for the best fit to the team.

Education

BSc in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent professional qualification

Experience

2 years in Associate QA Tech Specialist designation

Skills Required

1. Thorough knowledge on Software Quality Assurance and testing

2. Excellent Analytical, Problem solving skills

3. Ability to self-learn and grasp the knowledge quickly

4. Advanced Knowledge in at least one programming language

5. Having good exposure at least more than two of the following areas, AND be an expert in one area;

- Test Automation

- Performance Testing

- App Security

- Environment and Deployment

- Backend Testing / DB

- Unit and Integration Testing

6. Good knowledge of software development, the software development lifecycle and awareness of the industry trends.

8. Ability to adapt and work in multiple projects and project structures.

9. Ability to be self-motivated and work independently in a team based environment

10. Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations

11. Should have an aptitude in reconciling business requirements with testing requirements with help of other stakeholders.

12. Should have the ability to think creatively in finding technical solutions to problems.

13. Should have good time management skills

14. Expert knowledge and experience in practicing Agile/Scrum.
